Firstly, I want to assure you that you will not be asked to cluck like a chicken. There will be no pendulum waving and you will not be ‘under my control’ either. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a flexible, and transformational approach that has the needs of the client at its heart and is designed to help bring about meaningful and lasting changes in your life. It utilises light trance – which is similar to the everyday nature of daydreaming, or getting lost in thought while driving a car.

 

Cognitive Hypnotherapy offers a bespoke approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic techniques – including NLP, CBT, Psychotherapy, Gestalt, Positive Psychology, Traditional Hypnotherapy, Transactional Analysis and more. Practitioners don’t treat labels, or use standard scripts. We treat people, and we approach each person as the unique individual that they are.

A pilot study (1) was published by the Mental Health Review Journal in 2015.  Using a team of QCH therapists, clients with anxiety and depression were assessed using the same outcome measures currently used to assess the effectiveness of talking therapies within the NHS.

 

It recorded that, using 118 cases measuring the effectiveness of Cognitive Hypnotherapy for the treatment of depression and anxiety, 71% considered themselves recovered after an average of 4 sessions. This compared to an average of 42% for other approaches using the same measures (like CBT). To our knowledge, this is the only hypnotherapy approach to have been validated in this way.
