Loss Counselling Weybridge

Loss rearranges the day. Chairs feel louder, time stretches and ordinary tasks carry unexpected weight. Counselling here meets that reality with steadiness rather than fixes.

We stabilise first. You’ll learn simple, portable anchors—orienting to colour and shape, noticing support through your feet, letting your breath lengthen naturally. These cues make space for grief to move without pushing you past capacity.

Somatic awareness helps us track what the body is holding: a hollow in the stomach, heat rising behind the eyes, a jaw that clamps to ‘keep it together’. We meet those places gently so contact becomes tolerable and choice returns.

With enough safety, EMDR’s bilateral rhythm helps process sharp moments and sticky beliefs—‘I should have…’, ‘If only…’, ‘I’m not allowed to feel okay.’ Processing happens in short, careful sets with frequent pauses and explicit consent.

Between sessions we agree tiny rituals: a short outside breath at lunch, a phrase that supports boundaries, a bedtime routine that softens the day. Over time people describe more steadiness and fewer sudden storms. Absence remains, but it no longer has to govern every room.

FAQ

Q1. Can EMDR help when loss changes daily life?

Yes. We pair regulation with paced processing so your system can hold absence without collapsing or bracing.

Q2. What if I feel guilty laughing or resting?

We explore beliefs around permission and gently update them so rest and joy can coexist with love.

Q3. Are online sessions as supportive as in person?

They can be. With clear structure and regular check‑ins, remote work remains warm and contained.
